Rooted and Rising Women's Retreat
Musing • Meditation • Movement • Music
April 17–19, 2026
Light on the Hill Retreat Center
Van Etten, NY

A gentle pause in uncertain times
Spring is a season of renewal—a time when the earth slowly awakens, roots deepen, and new life begins to stir. Even when the world feels uncertain and chaotic, spring reminds us that growth happens quietly, patiently, and in its own time.
We are living in a moment when the world feels fast, loud, and unpredictable. Many of us are carrying more than we realize—emotionally, physically, spiritually—while still being asked to keep up, keep producing, and keep moving.

Rooted and Rising is an invitation to step out of the ordinary day-to-day and into a sacred, nourishing space where you can be held gently and softly. This retreat offers time to slow down, to breathe, to listen inwardly, and to remember what steadiness and belonging feel like in your body and heart.

This is a weekend to come home to yourself.

What this retreat offers
Through music, yoga, free dance, meditation, readings, and journaling, we will create a rhythm that supports grounding, centering, and deep listening. Rather than striving or fixing, we will practice being—allowing clarity and wisdom to arise naturally from within.

Together, we will:
  • Slow the pace and quiet the noise
  • Settle into our bodies and breath
  • Cultivate presence, ease, and self-compassion
  • Reflect and contemplate through words, music, and movement
  • Listen for the quiet voice of inner wisdom
  • Rest in community and sacred circle

This retreat is designed to be spacious, supportive, and accessible. You will be invited - but never pressured -
to participate in ways that feel right for you.

Our time together
Our days will include a blend of guided and open time:
  • Gentle yoga and mindful movement
  • Music, poetry, and contemplative prompts as doorways to reflection and connection
  • Guided meditation and silent pauses
  • Time in nature and space for rest
  • Sharing and listening in sacred circle (always optional)

Everything we do is in service of helping you feel more rooted, resourced, and alive so that you can rise from a place of steadiness rather than urgency.

This retreat may be for you if you are…
  • Feeling overwhelmed, weary, or disconnected
  • Longing to slow down and reconnect with yourself
  • Craving quiet, simplicity, and depth
  • Navigating uncertainty or transition
  • Wanting space to reflect without needing to have answers
  • Drawn to contemplative practices like movement, music, and journaling
  • Ready to be held in a warm, welcoming, non-judgmental community
  •
You do not need prior experience with yoga, meditation, or dance—just a willingness to come as you are.

Why retreat now?
In times of chaos and change, pausing is not a luxury—it is essential. When we slow down enough to listen, we regain access to our intuition, our resilience, and our capacity to respond rather than react.

Retreat allows us to:
  • Reconnect with what matters most
  • Soothe our nervous system
  • Soften self-judgment and cultivate kindness
  • Remember who we are beneath the noise

As we tend to ourselves with care, we become more grounded, more expansive and open, and more able to meet our lives with clarity and compassion.

The setting: Light on the Hill Retreat Center
Nestled in a peaceful natural setting near Ithaca, NY, Light on the Hill offers a serene and supportive environment for rest and reflection. The beauty and simplicity of the land invite you to slow down, breathe deeply, and feel strongly held.

An invitation
Imagine a weekend where nothing is required of you except to be present – to find your rhythm and flow. A weekend where your body can soften, your mind can settle, and your heart can speak.

Rooted and Rising is an invitation to remember your own steadiness, to listen for what is quietly asking for your attention, and to leave feeling more grounded, more connected, gently renewed, and aligned with the natural rhythm of the season.
We would be honored to welcome you into this sacred space.

Yoga
Opportunities to practice yoga will be woven throughout the retreat. Yoga is a wonderful way to get out of our heads and into our bodies, to step away from our inner chatter and reside fully in the present moment. Yoga offers many gifts such as presence, patience, strength, balance, and equanimity - these qualities can be discovered and practiced on our mats and then carried into our lives! You do not have to be flexible or coordinated to practice yoga!  We will practice in a gentle way that honors the needs of your body, mind, and heart.

Meals
All meals are gourmet vegetarian, prepared on-site with love, and feature mostly organic ingredients wherever possible. Many vegan options are available. Tea and fresh fruit are provided throughout the day, and coffee is available in the morning.

We can accommodate simple dietary restrictions such as gluten-free, dairy-free, and vegan. If your diet is more restrictive, we suggest bringing your own food. Please note, no meat is cooked on the premises, and no alcohol may be brought onto the property.
