Hi, I'm Barb Klein. After a friend called me "a Possibilitator," I happily took that on as I'm not crazy about other labels for what I'm all about. To me this speaks to being one who is open to possibility and who helps others to uncover fresh perspective and new possibilities. As the founder of Inspired Possibility, life coach, recovery coach, meditation instructor, retreat leader, and the author of 111 Invitations: Step into the Full Richness of Life, I aspire to help people find fresh perspective and possibility as they step into the next chapter of their lives.
Throughout my life I have learned to embrace my inner rebel, and with her help, I have walked away from many of the things that "made sense," and toward the callings of my true self. I have stood up for and advocated for what seemed impossible. I have held onto and fought for dreams that others told me couldn't happen. I have walked through the fires of my life and found a way to create meaning and purpose from them, most distinctly in my journey as a mother to a young man who struggles with substance use disorder, that led me to reclaim my own life, distinct from his situation.
I am a champion for the mighty, feisty warrior woman who refuses to play someone else's game, be bound to someone else's prescribed steps, buy into the story that someone else knows her path or what will work for her. I am here for the women who want to blaze their own trail, true to their heart and soul. I am here to help these women reclaim the self that got lost in the fires of their lives.
I am grateful to be a certified facilitator in the Invitation to Change (ITC) family recovery approach, a model grounded in the evidence-based practices of Motivational Interviewing, CRAFT (Community Reinforcement and Family Therapy), and ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy). ITC is a revolutionary model that brings together compassion and science and empowers families to be part of creating conditions for change. It has allowed me to find a way that honors my heart as well as my relationship with my son.
As a mom who has navigated life through my son’s substance use disorder for more than a decade, I am determined to create something positive and meaningful out of this experience. I am glad to have found a path to recovery that works for me through ITC and CRAFT. I support other family members who have been impacted by a child’s substance use disorder and people in recovery to make their own well-being a priority and to find peace and possibility beyond the pain.
My experience with the dance of living and loving, of redefining what a “good mother” is and what love looks like guides my work with other family members. I know that it is critically important to choose to live life fully, independent of our loved one's experiences. I create a safe space for people to rediscover who they were before addiction entered their life and to choose who they want to become in the rest of their lives.
Through my coaching, writing, teaching, speaking, I am helping women take back their lives. I am committed to shatter the stigma and break the silence which so often surrounds mental health and substance use disorders. I am a fierce advocate for self-care and know it is the foundational practice upon which everything else is built. I help people come home to themselves as they bring self-compassion, self-care, and mindfulness to their daily lives.
My first book,111 Invitations: Step into the Full Richness of Life, was written as part of my healing journey, and implores you to show up for life as it is… not what it used to be, what it might become, or what you wish it were. This book is for those who feel lost, alone, or wondering, and for those who believe in possibility and long for something more.
I live in Western New York with my husband and love being on the water, practicing yoga, cooking good food, singing and dancing to great music, traveling, and finding ways to live life fully. I am the proud mother of two young men who are each finding their way, and I love spending time with them and sharing this journey of life with them!
My training and experience:
Since 2021, I have been a Certified Addiction Recovery Coach (CARC) and enjoy working with people in recovery and family members in recovery from the impact of a loved one's substance use disorder.
In 2022, I completed my training with Center for Motivation and Change to become a Certified Invitation to Change Facilitator. I also completed a 12 hour training in CRAFT with Dr. Robert Meyers. Both programs offer families a way to become part of creating change and supporting their loved ones to find recovery, while also taking good care of themselves.
I was an ICF-Certified ACC life coach from 2017-2023, having completed my Core Essentials and Advanced Coach Training with Coach U. I have years of experience coaching and supporting others to create the lives they desire.
I am a certified Meditation Instructor, having trained with Susan Piver and Jenna Hollenstein through the Open Heart Project in 2019.
For 5 years I was a program director in a nonprofit organization, overseeing 2 programs that supported parents of kids with disabilities to better navigate the education system. Prior to that I had my own Reiki practice, where I offered individual healing sessions and Reiki training through the Master level.
Teaching has always been a part of my life, whether in my role as consumer loan representative, elementary school teacher, or horseback riding instructor, and I am passionate about connecting with people in this way. I love nudging people gently out of their comfort zones as they stretch to bring forth their finest selves!
How to work with me:
I am available for coaching sessions by phone or Zoom. I am also available to teach workshops or to develop and facilitate customized staff or personal retreats for groups who are interested in enhancing self-awareness, self-care, mindfulness, personal responsibility, and teamwork. Change, whether personal or professional, begins at the individual level. When we look within and are truly willing to change, anything is possible!
